A Vertical Form Fill and Seal (VFFS) machine is an advanced packaging solution designed to efficiently fill, form, and seal products in a single continuous process. The system utilizes large rolls of plastic film that are unwound and passed through a forming tube, where they are shaped into bags, filled with the desired product, and then sealed securely.
The VFFS Bagging machine operates by feeding a continuous roll of flat plastic film, which may be blank or pre-labelled with artwork. The film travels through a conical forming tube, where the outer edges are drawn around the tube and sealed to create a pouch. A vertical heat-sealing jaw bonds the film by melting the edges together, ensuring a secure closure.
To begin the bagging process, a horizontal sealing bar creates the "Bottom Seal" by clamping across the bottom edge of the forming tube, bonding the film and cutting off any excess material. Sealing bars can either be fixed (intermittent sealing) or move continuously with the bag (continuous motion), depending on the machine's speed and design.
For delicate products such as potato chips, the bag can be inflated with an inert gas like nitrogen. This not only helps preserve the product by reducing the potential for crushing but also slows bacterial growth by displacing oxygen, extending the shelf life. Additionally, we offer custom finishes such as hole-punching for retail display hanging racks.
The bag cutting and material feeding processes can be controlled based on pouch length or indexed via photo-registration marks detected by a sensor, ensuring precise and accurate packaging.
In addition to VFFS machines, we also provide a range of Pouch Packaging Machines, ideal for filling and sealing pre-made pouches in a continuous motion. These machines can be supplied as single pouch fillers or multi-station setups with up to 8 stations for high-volume production.
While plastic is the most commonly used material for packaging, our technology can also accommodate a variety of other materials, including metallised foil, paper, and fabric, by adapting the edge sealing methods to suit different substrates.
Linear Weighers – Precision, Efficiency, and Reliability in Every Package
At Total Food Machines, we provide a wide range of Linear Weighers designed to streamline your packaging operations. Our solutions, from single-head to multi-head models, are engineered to deliver exceptional accuracy and reliability across various product types, ensuring precise weighing and consistent packaging results.
A Linear Weigher is a state-of-the-art system used to measure and dispense exact quantities of product into packaging containers, such as bags, bottles, or boxes. The system typically features multiple weigh hoppers or buckets, each equipped with load cells that accurately measure the weight of the product. Integrated control systems then manage the discharge process, releasing the correct amount of product into each package.
How Our Linear Weighers Work:
-
Feeding Mechanism: The process begins with a hopper or feeder system that stores and delivers the product to be weighed. This product is typically transported via a vibratory feeder or bucket conveyor.
-
Weighing Buckets or Pans: Each weigher is equipped with multiple buckets or pans, which hold a specific amount of product. The number of buckets can vary depending on the capacity and model of the weigher.
-
Load Cells or Sensors: Each bucket is fitted with load cells or sensors that measure the weight of the product in real-time. These sensors continuously provide data to the machine’s PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), ensuring accurate weight measurements.
-
Control System: The PLC controller processes the data from the load cells, compares the measurements to the preset weight, and adjusts as necessary to ensure precise portioning.
-
Discharge Chute: Once the product is accurately weighed, it is released through discharge chutes or funnels into the packaging containers, whether bags, boxes, or trays.
Key Benefits of Linear Weighers:
- Cost-Effective: Linear weighers offer a budget-friendly alternative to more complex systems like multi-head weighers, making them ideal for businesses transitioning from manual scales.
- Compact & User-Friendly: Their compact design and simple operation make them a versatile solution for businesses of all sizes.
- Scalable Solution: Linear weighers are the perfect choice for companies looking to scale their operations without sacrificing accuracy or performance.
Versatile and Efficient: Whether you’re in food processing, pharmaceuticals, or another industry requiring precise portioning, our linear weighers provide reliable, cost-effective solutions that grow with your business need
